Contact Center Volkswagen
2019 was not only the year for the design of a new Volkswagen logo. It was also the year in which the facade of the Contact Center Volkswagen was profoundly refurbished.
The building, designed by the former “Building Design”, was realized in 1985. When the construction was finished, it even received the award for best metal span. In 2015 D’Ieteren already invested in a number of technical solutions which were designed to strongly enhance the sustainability of the building.
Especially since the realization of the new contemporary Skoda and Seat Contact Centers, D’Ieteren Auto felt that the building, destined for the Volkswagen test cars, could use a more modern look.
In collaboration with the architectural team of Cubyc architects, our architects established a pragmatic and cost efficient proposition, which does great honor to the facade. They used a number of smaller and smart interventions, enhancing aesthetics of the building to the maximum.
It entailed tearing down a part of the entrance, which was rebuilt into a more orthogonal shape. The rebuilt entrance was fitted with an elegant, white lathing, which even gave rise to a terrace for the meeting rooms behind on the first floor.
Back in 1985 the low glass windows at the front were a perfect way to keep the sun away from this southern facade as much as they could. However, the current user could use a better view on the new car models. Thanks to a number of strategically placed concrete stages, the cars are taken out of their showcase to the side of the street, where they become perfectly visible to the potential client.
A renewed and improved client parking lot made out of water permeable cement clinkers and an infiltration wadi tops it all off. The client can also use a charging point in order to get his electric vehicle up and running again in no time.
