Bike to Work
Renovation of former staff cloakrooms intended for cyclists.
Let’s head for new mobility! Bike to Work is a parking space for bikes and scooters in the heart of the D’Ieteren Mail building. The main objective of this project is to give employees of the company an incentive to travel by bike or scooter, but also to give employees the opportunity to use the cloakrooms and showers after they have worked out during office hours.
A ground track leads the cyclists to the parking facility. An interactive map on one of the walls offers them the possibility to create their itinerary. Lockers give people the opportunity to store their cycling gear, and a repair station allows for small repairs or maintenance of the bikes. We also offer the users charging areas for electric bikes.
Two major areas located next to the bicycle parking give the users the opportunity to change clothes and to get freshened up: the cloakrooms, an ample space around which the lockers and washing sinks are organized, and the individual shower area.
The project has an industrial appearance with wire mesh, concrete floor and black ceilings. Some colourful touches, well-studied lighting and hints of warm materials brighten up the area.
This realisation won a prestigious CBRE Award in 2019.
